Stefan Manz Named SimplexGrinnell Stony Brook Athlete of the Week

Sophomore goalkeeper Stefan Manz was named the SimplexGrinnell Stony Brook Athlete of the Week for the week ending Oct. 17. The Bronx, N.Y., native made 13 saves last week in a pair of 0-0 scoreless ties against New Hampshire and Vermont. Manz has an America East leading six clean sheets this season.

Manz had four saves Wednesday against New Hampshire and followed up with a career-high nine at Vermont this past Saturday. The nine saves matches an America East season high for keepers.

Manz has now put up shutouts in three consecutive matches and hasn’t allowed a goal over his last 331 minutes played. He is tied for the league leads in shutouts ranks second in saves. He has also lowered his goals against average to 1.03.

Manz and the Seawolves play a critical America East match at Binghamton Saturday at 7 p.m. The Seawolves trail the Bearcats by three points in the standings.
