Junior Alicia Nelson (Apple Valley, Minn.), of the Stony Brook University volleyball team, has been named America East Co-Player of the Week, the conference office announced on Monday. Nelson led the Seawolves to wins in two of their three matches last week, averaging a conference-best 4.25 kills per set.
Nelson had 16 kills in the Seawolves 3-2 win over LIU on Tuesday, and then totaled 14 kills on a .500 hitting percentage in the conference opener, a 3-0 win over Providence. She closed the week with a career-high 21 kills against New Hampshire. She hit .400 in the match and added 10 digs as she recorded her fifth double-double of the season.
The Seawolves return to action on Friday, traveling to take on UMBC. Game time is set for 7 p.m.
