Winners of two of its last three matches, the Stony Brook University volleyball team will travel to take on the UMBC Retrievers in an America East conference game on Friday. Match time is set for 7 p.m. Fans can follow the game with gametracker and live video streaming at www.goseawolves.org.

Nelson was named America East Co-Player of the Week by the conference office on Monday ... she averaged a conference-best 4.25 kills per set in the Seawolves three matches ... prior to the match against New Hampshire, the Seawolves defeated Providence, 3-0, and LIU, 3-2 ... Stony Brook rallied from a two sets to one deficit in defeating LIU ... it was the Seawolves second straight five-set match ... Stony Brook is 2-1 in five-set matches this season ... the match against LIU was the second of two straight home matches for Stony Brook after playing its first two away from home ... senior Ashley Headen (Alexandria, Va.) had a game-high 19 kills against LIU ... Headen has recorded double-digit kills in eight of her last nine matches ... she also had hit .300 or over in four straight matches prior to Sunday's match at New Hampshire ... her .313 attack percentage ranks third in the America East ... The Retrievers (5-11, 1-1 AE) enters Friday's match off a 3-1 win over Binghamton, which snapped a seven-game losing streak. UMBC is third in the conference in opponent hitting percentage (.209) and is led by Hallie Carter, who ranks third in the conference in digs (3.76 per set).

Stony Brook is 7-7 all-time against UMBC after splitting two matches with Retrievers last season. The Seawolves dropped a 3-0 decision in Baltimore, Md. before bouncing back to sweep the Retrievers two days later at Pritchard Gymnasium.
