Senior middle blocker Ashley Headen (Alexandria, Va.) has been named the Stony Brook Athlete of the Week after leading the volleyball team to sweeps of New Hampshire and Providence over the weekend. She averaged 3.17 kills per set with a hitting percentage of .338 in the two wins.
Headen hit .429 against Providence on Sunday, totaling 12 kills to go along with two service aces and two blocks. She tallied seven kills, three blocks and three aces against New Hampshire on Friday. Headen leads the America East in hitting percentage (.345), and aces per set (.56) during conference play.
Winners of three their last four matches, Stony Brook returns to action on Sunday, hosting UMBC in its final home match of the season. Match time is set for 12:30 p.m.
