About the Game: Stony Brook wraps up a tough stretch of five games in 10 days Sunday as it hosts Wagner College at Pritchard Gymnasium. This is the third straight game the Seawolves are playing against a member of the Northeast Conference and the seventh all-time meeting between the two schools. Wagner leads the all-time series 4-2, but the Seawolves won last year’s matchup on Staten Island.

Scouting Wagner: The Seahawks are now under the direction of Dan Hurley, who coached St. Benedict’s Prep of Newark, N.J., to a 223-21 record in nine seasons. Hurley has brought along his older brother Bobby as assistant coach. Bobby was an All-American at Duke and an NBA Draft lottery pick. Hurley takes over a program that returns three starters from last season’s team that struggled to a 5-26 record.  Canadian native Tyler Murray is off to a great start, scoring 18 points in each of the first two games of the season. The Seahawks have been trigger happy with the three, taking 44 attempts in the first two games, but making 46 percent of them (20-for-44).

Last Time Out: Stony Brook held Fairleigh Dickinson to 33.3 percent shooting, often forcing the Knights to settle for poor three-point shots, as the Seawolves came away with a 66-59 road victory in Hackensack Thursday. The two teams were close for a while in what was an up-and-down game, but SBU separated from FDU with a 10-0 run late in the first half extending into the second half. Bryan Dougher led SBU with 14 points, and Dave Coley added 11 and six rebounds.

Last Time vs. Wagner: On Nov. 21, 2009, Stony Brook held Wagner to 29.8 percent shooting while getting double-digit scoring from five different players as the Seawolves routed the Seahawks 72-48. SBU put up 52 points in the first half to go up by 22 and put the game out of reach. Bryan Dougher led Stony Brook with 12 points.
