Winners of three of its last four matches, the Stony Brook University volleyball team plays its final home match of the 2010 season on Sunday afternoon, hosting the UMBC Retrievers at Pritchard Gymnasium. Match time is set for 12:30 p.m. The Seawolves will honor their two seniors- Jeanette Gibbs (Port Jefferson, N.Y.) and Ashley Headen (Alexandria, Va.)- prior to the match. Stony Brook hit .343 on its way to a 3-0 (25-17, 25-18, 25-18) sweep of the Providence Friars on Sunday afternoon at Pritchard Gymnasium. Junior Alicia Nelson (Apple Valley, Minn.) led the Seawolves with a match-best 14 kills to go along with nine digs. Headen tallied 12 kills on a .429 hitting percentage while sophomore Greta Strenger (Woodbury, Minn.) recorded a match-high 11 digs.

Nelson averaged 4.83 kills per set last weekend ... Stony Brook held New Hampshire to a .147 hitting percentage last Friday before holding Providence to a .193 hitting percentage ... the Seawolves have held their opponents under a .200 hitting percentage in their last four matches ... Stony Brook then hit .343 in the win over Providence... It matched its second-highest hitting percentage this season ... freshman Evann Slaughter (Clinton, Md.) had a combined 15 kills in the two matches this weekend ... she had eight kills on a .727 hitting percentage on Sunday ... Gibbs had 14 digs against New Hampshire ... it was her seventh-straight match with double-digit digs ... she is nine digs from 1,000 for her career.

The Retrievers enter this week's play tied with Binghamton for second place in the America East, a half game ahead of the Seawolves. Sabrina Hoeks leads the America East with 42 aces while Iman Kennedy is second in the conference with 1.13 blocks per set. The Seawolves hit a season-high .346 in the 3-0 victory over the Retrievers earlier this season led by a match-best 18 kills from Nelson.
