Senior Alyssa Struzenberg (Cooper City, Fla.) broke a pair of school records and helped lead the Stony Brook softball team to a 4-0 record this week on the way to being named the SimplexGrinnell Athlete of the Week. SBU's starting pitcher set the career mark in both wins and shutouts this weekend.
Struzenberg threw a no-hitter against Fairfield on Sunday and recorded her 19th career shutout, breaking the record set in 2002. She won her 59th career game on Saturday by pitching 4.2 innings in relief. On Friday, she allowed just one hit in the Seawolves 1-0 victory over Quinnipiac. She finished the weekend with 20 total strikeouts, five hits allowed and just one unearned run.
