Kavitsky, Struzenberg Earn Weekly America East Honors

April 12, 2010

Cambridge, Mass. - For the second time this season seniors Vicki Kavitsky (Cherry Hill, N.J.) and Alyssa Struzenberg (Cooper City, Fla.) have been named the America East Player and Pitcher of the Week, respectively. Kavitsky paced the Seawolves' offense with seven RBI and a .533 batting average while Struzenberg threw a pair of shutouts on her way to a 0.74 ERA. Stony Brook went 5-0 on the week, including a sweep of conference rival Hartford.

Three of Kavitsky's eight hits went for extra bases, including a pair of home runs, as she posted a slugging percentage of 1.000. She had two hits in the three America East games last weekend, which helped bring her season batting average to .407.

Struzenberg recorded a season-high 13 strikeouts in a win over Hartford on Sunday. In the game against Lafayette, she was one out away from a no-hitter. She allowed just seven hits over 19 innings, holding opponents to a batting average of just .113.
