Stony Brook, N.Y. -
Stony Brook University softball head coach Megan Bryant has announced the hiring of Ashley Lane as an assistant coach. Lane will serve as the hitting and outfield coach in addition to assisting with all aspects of the program. She most recently was a graduate assistant for strength & conditioning at St. John's.
"I am thrilled that Ashley Lane has accepted the offer to join us here at Stony Brook," Bryan said. "Ashley was a terrific college player in a highly successful program and knows what it takes to compete and win. She has always been a student of the game, is a teacher and has a real passion for the sport. Ashley is a great addition to our staff and I look forward to working with her."
A four-time All-Mid Atlantic Regional All-American and four-time CAA first team selection, Lane led Hofstra to four straight NCAA Tournaments from 2004-07 including two appearances in the Regionals. Lane was a two-time Hofstra Female Athlete of the Year and was named the 2006 CAA Player of the Year.
Following her graduation from Hofstra, Lane served as the assistant varsity softball coach at Commack High School. She received her Bachelor of Science in Education from Hofstra in 2007 and then earned her Masters in Education from St. John's in 2010.
