Sophomore guard Marcus Rouse (Upper Marlboro, Md.) has been named the SimplexGrinnell Stony Brook Athlete of the Week for his strong performance at UMBC last weekend. Rouse matched his career high in points with 17 and sank a trifecta of three-pointers in the effort. Stony Brook defeated the Retrievers 64-56.
Rouse, who missed the first five games of the season due to injury, has worked his way into the starting lineup and has blossomed, averaging 7.7 points a game. He scored 15 points at Notre Dame on Dec. 15, his previous season high.
Rouse and the Seawolves host Vermont Tuesday night at Pritchard Gymnasium at 7 p.m.
