In search of its third straight victory, the Stony Brook University volleyball team continues America East play with a match-up against the Providence Friars on Sunday afternoon. First serve is set for 1 p.m.

Senior Alicia Nelson tallied a match-high 21 kills and the Stony Brook University volleyball team hit a season-high .337 on its way to a 3-0 (25-23, 25-21,25-18) victory over the Long Island Blackbirds on Wednesday night. The Seawolves improved to 10-9 with the victory, which snapped a six-match LIU winning streak.
Nelson hit .477 for the match for the Seawolves, who finished the match with 12 blocks (two blocks solos, 20 block assists). Freshmen Taylor Gillie and Katie Anderson each had a block solo and five block assists while freshman Laura Hathaway led Stony Brook with 14 digs.
Scouting Providence
Providence is led by senior Lauren Fletcher, who leads the America East with a .367 hitting percentage. A second team all-conference selection last season, Fletcher ranks third in the America East at 3.61 kills per set.
The Friars have lost two straight and seven of eight and will take on UMBC on Friday before facing the Seawolves on Sunday.
Stony Brook swept Providence in both meetings between the teams last season. Nelson hit .333 and averaged 4.67 kills per set while Slaughter hit .524 in the two matches.
