The Stony Brook University women's volleyball team looks to head into the America East tournament on a high note as it closes the regular season at Providence on Friday at 7 p.m. The Seawolves have already clinched a spot in the next weekend's four-team America East tournament and can clinch the No. 3 seed with a victory.
Last time out
Senior Alicia Nelson (Apple Valley, Minn.) tallied a career-high 27 kills but the New Hampshire Wildcats rallied for a 3-2 (25-12, 20-25, 20-25, 25-23, 15-11) victory over the Stony Brook University volleyball team on Sunday at Pritchard Gymnasium.
Balandzic led the Seawolves (13-12, 6-5 AE) with 10 digs and also had seven of Stony Brook's season-high 13 aces. Playing her final home match, Sullivan had 50 assists and eight digs to go along with four kills.
Scouting Providence
Providence has been eliminated from America East tournament contention and has lost two straight and three of four. The Friars will close the regular season on Sunday against UMBC.
PC is led by senior Lauren Fletcher, who is second in the America East with a .328 hitting percentage. Fletcher is also third in the conference at 3.48 kills per set.
Stony Brook knocked off Providence in three sets earlier this season. Sophomore Evann Slaughter (Clinton, Md.) hit .429 and had 14 kills as the Seawolves hit a season-high .356.
