Stony Brook, N.Y. - Freshman libero Laura Hathaway (Warsaw, N.Y.), of the Stony Brook University volleyball team, has been named America East Rookie of the Week, the conference office announced on Monday.

Hathaway had 14 digs in the sweep of Providence on Friday night. She has recoded double-figures digs in all but three matches this season and ranks fourth in the America East with 4.09 digs per set

With the victory over Providence, the Seawolves secured the No. 3 seed in this week's four-team America East Tournament, which will be hosted by top-seeded Albany.

Hathaway and the Seawolves open the America East tournament against No. 2 New Hampshire in the semifinal round on Friday at 4 p.m.
