About the Game: Stony Brook looks to maintain its perfect record at home and looks to snap a two-game losing streak as it welcomes Fairleigh Dickinson to Pritchard Gym. Although these two teams are New York locals, this is only the fourth all-time meeting between them. The last meeting at Stony Brook came Dec. 16, 2006 when the Seawolves won 82-58 at Stony Brook Arena.

Scouting Fairleigh Dickinson: The Knights, picked last in the NEC preseason poll, have lost four straight and are off to a 1-6 start on the season. The team opened conference play last weekend with losses to Robert Morris and St. Francis (PA). The team returned only two starters from last season's team that went 5-24. Head coach Greg Vetrone brought in nine newcomers, including explosive junior transfers Lonnie Hayes, who is averaging 17.4 PPG, and Melquan Bolding, who scored 33 points in a game last month, and senior transfer George Goode, who had 16 points and nine rebounds in FDU's only win. The team has struggled with turnovers, averaging 16.6 per game; Hayes alone averages 4.6 to/g.

Last Time Out: Stony Brook and Eastern Illinois went back- and-forth all game with nine ties and nine lead changes, but it was the Panthers who came out on top after getting to the free throw line more often in a 72-69 win over the Seawolves. Stony Brook made more field goals than the Panthers (29-25), but EIU went to the free throw line 21 times and made 16 of the attempts compared to just five SBU free throw attempts. Stony Brook outrebounded EIU 39-36 and had 23 second chance points off of 19 offensive rebounds. Al Rapier led Stony Brook with a career-high 19 points and nine rebounds. Bryan Dougher added 16 points. Jeremy Granger led EIU with 25 points.

A Stony Brook win...

  • Extends Stony Brook's home winning streak to four games.
  • Makes Stony Brook 3-0 at home to start a season for the first time since 2009-10.
  • Improves Stony Brook's record to 4-3 against NEC opponents since 2009-10.
Rebounding Machines: Stony Brook has done a nice job on the glass so far this season, outrebounding opponents by a 7.3 margin (39.5 to 32.2). What's more impressive is the work on the offensive end, grabbing an average of 17.5 offensive rebounds per game. That is leading to an average of 18.3 second chance points per game.

Rapier's Midwest Madness: Senior Al Rapier is from Chicago, and the Seawolves' three games in the Midwest region afforded him the opportunity to play in front of family and friends. He responded by averaging 12.3 PPG and 6.0 RPG in those three games while shooting 63% from the field.

Iron Man: Saturday's game at Eastern Illinois marked the 100th career game for senior Bryan Dougher. He has started in every game on Stony Brook's schedule since joining the team in 2008. He is on pace to become the program's all-time leader in games and minutes played.

Camera Ready: Stony Brook appeared on television a school-record 11 times in 2010-11, including four broadcasts on the ESPN family of networks. This season, the Seawolves will appear on television at least 18 times, which will shatter the school record. The full schedule, released Nov. 30, includes three national television broadcasts. Stony Brook will host Boston University on Jan. 27 on ESPNU, and will host Maine on Feb. 26 on CBS Sports Network. The Seawolves will also be on CBS Sports Network Feb. 12 at Vermont.

Up Next: Stony Brook hits Beantown this weekend for a Sunday evening affair with Boston College at Contre Forum at 5 p.m. The game will be televised on NESN and simulcasted on the web at ESPN3.
