Stony Brook men's basketball junior guard Bryan Dougher has been named the SimplexGrinnell Stony Brook Athlete of the Week for his outstanding performance in a pair of Seawolves victories.
Dougher, a native of Scotch Plains, N.J., averaged 17.0 points in wins over Hartford and UMBC. He had 15 against the Hawks on five three-pointers and then had 19 points on five three-pointers and a pair of layups against UMBC. The 10 three-pointers he connected on moved him into a tie with Josh Little (1997-01) for first place all-time in Stony Brook history in career three-pointers made.
For the season, Dougher leads the Seawolves in scoring at 13.4 points per game. He is first in America East and 33rd in the country in three-pointers made per game at 2.9.
Dougher will go for the record on Friday as he and the Seawolves welcome Boston University to Pritchard Gymnasium at 7 p.m.
