Boyds, Md. - The Stony Brook swimming and diving teams wrapped up day two at the America East Championship at the Germantown Aquatic Center on Friday. After 14 events, the men's team remains in fifth with 116 points, while the women sit sixth with 114 points.
Senior Lukasz Ochmanski (Lodz, Poland) and junior Darcy Heuser (Centerville, Ohio) highlighted a busy day for Stony Brook at the competition, setting a pair of season records in the 50 freestyle. Ochmanski placed sixth in the event with a mark of 20.93, falling just a tenth of a second short of tying the program record set in 2005 by Ted Freeborn. Heuser also placed sixth with a time of 23.91 and was joined in the top 10 by freshman Allison Zelnick (Troy, Ohio), who touched ninth in 24.00.
Heuser and Ochmanski then contributed in the 200 freestyle relays, helping Stony Brook take third on the women's side and fourth in the men's event. The quartet of Heuser, Zelnick, junior Kelsey Stranc (Chicago, Ill.) and sophomore Andjelija Sreckovic (Jagodina, Serbia) finished in 1:35.32, setting another program record. The men's team of Ochmanski, junior Sean Conway (Oakdale, N.Y.), senior Chris Olwell (Floral Park, N.Y.) and junior Ed McIntyre (Laurel, N.Y.) registered a time of 1:24.73 to set a new season best.
The Seawolves will be back in action on Saturday beginning at 10 a.m. for day three of the competition. Boston University currently leads both the men's and women's events through twp days of action.
