About the Game: The Seawolves look to end the regular season on a high note as they take on Binghamton in a SUNY rivalry game on Senior Day. Prior to the game, SBU will honor Chris Martin, its lone senior this season. Although, the Seawolves have locked up their seed in next week’s conference tournament, they are still playing for a .500 record and a finish in the top half of the standings for the third consecutive season. This is the 52nd all-time meeting between the teams, and BU leads 28-23, but the Seawolves are 13-8 against the Bearcats at home.
Scouting Binghamton: The Bearcats have gone had a bumpy conference year. They oepned with a three-game winning streak and were in first place on Jan. 12. Then BU lost nine straight games to fall out of contention. BU has been inconsistent on both ends of the floor. The Bearcats have scored 70+ points seven times, but have scored less than 50 five times. They had allowed 70+ in eight straight games, but now have averaged 52.3 PPG allowed over the last three. Moussa Camara and Mahamoud Jabbi have done the bulk of the scoring for BU, and Jabbi is the leading candidate for AE Defensive Player of the Year, averaging 7.7 rebounds, 1.7 blocks and 1.0 steals.
Last Time Out: Stony Brook overcame a 10-point deficit in the game’s final six minutes to force overtime and then come away with a 79-73 victory at Hartford. Leonard Hayes hit the game- tying three-pointer to send the game to OT, and then Bryan Dougher scored nine consecutive points to lift SBU to the win. Dougher, one of five Seawolves in double figures, had 17 points.
Last Time vs. Binghamton: Although Stony Brook held Binghamton to just 57 points, the Seawolves shot only 29 percent in a 57-50 loss on Jan. 10. Marcus Rouse had 14 points to lead SBU. Moussa Camara had a career-high 28 points. No other Bearcat had more than six.
