Stony Brook men's basketball assistant coach Dan Rickard was eliminated from Collegeinsider.com's Shots from the Heart tournament after losing to Texas Tech assistant coach Brooks Jennings in a shoot-off. Rickard and Jennings each made all 25 shots to force a shoot-off. Rickard missed one in his second set of attempts while Jennings once again went perfect.
"Shots from the Heart" is an event in which college basketball coaches will compete against one another in a free throw shooting tournament benefiting the American Heart Association. The event will also pay tribute to the late Skip Prosser who passed away on July 26, 2007 of a heart attack.
Rickard finished the tournament making 94 out of a possible 100 shots. Head coach Steve Pikiell also participated in the tournament, falling in the second round to Arizona head coach Sean Miller.
