LIVE STATS: Game One | Game Two
Stony Brook, N.Y. - With three wins in their last four games, the Stony Brook softball team will welcome Fordham to University Field on Wednesday for a doubleheader beginning at 2 p.m. The Seawolves own a 2-1 record all-time against the Rams dating back to 2003.
Junior Bernadette Tenuto (Audubon, N.J.) has been an offensive tear as of late and leads the Seawolves with a .341 batting average, three home runs and 14 RBI. Tenuto has hit safely in seven of her last eight games and has posted a .500 average (9-for-18) with five RBI in her last four contests. Sophomore Taylor Chain (Gloucester, N.J.) has also been red hot. Chain went 8-for-14 (.571) at the plate and drove in seven runs last week en route to America East Player of the Week honors. In the circle, senior Colleen Matthes (Severn, Md.) continues to have a solid season as she leads the conference in innings pitched (133.1), strikeouts (110), appearances (25) and games started (21).
Fordham
The Rams (26-16) enter on a four-game win streak, having dispatched fellow Atlantic-10 opponents George Washington and La Salle over the weekend. Fordham has played a very difficult non-conference schedule thus far, having matched wits with the likes of No. 17 Georgia Tech, No. 25 DePaul, No. 7 Washington, No. 20 LSU and No. 1 Alabama. As a team, the Rams hit .261 and average 3.97 runs per game. Jocelyn Dearborn leads the team with a .358 average to go along with 12 home runs and 27 RBI. In the circle, Jen Mineau (12-7, 1.71 ERA) and Chelsea Plimpton (13-9, 2.18) are the primary starters.
Last Time Out
The Seawolves took two of three at Maine over the weekend, earning their first two America East victories in the process. After dropping game two, 13-5, Stony Brook rebounded with a 9-5 win in the rubber match as the team pounded out 14 hits, including three apiece from junior Lauren Maloney (Las Vegas, Nev.) and freshman Jess Combs (Hammonton, N.J.).
