Stony Brook University's baseball team opens up America East play with a four-game series against the Maine Black Bears this weekend. Winners of two of the last three America East championships, the Seawolves are off to their best start since the 2000 season.

Last time out
The Seawolves pounded out 10 hits but the Iona Gaels rallied from an early deficit to defeat the Seawolves, 10-4, in non-conference action on Thursday afternoon.
Matt Marley allowed four runs on eight hits in 7.1 innings to earn the win for Iona. Sophomore Tanner Nivins (Kitchener, Ontario) led the Seawolves with two hits and two RBI.
Scouting Maine
Picked second in the America East preseason poll, the Black Bears have won three straight. Maine returns 15 letterwinners from last year's squad that went 34-22 and finished second in the conference during the regular season.
The teams split a four-game series in Orono last season before the Seawolves knocked off the Black Bears, 10-1, in the opening round of the 2010 America East tournament. Taylor Lewis is the fifth in the America East with a .343 batting average.
