Stony Brook, N.Y. -
The Stony Brook University men's and women's tennis teams were each recently recognized by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) with their All-Academic Team honor. In addition, the Seawolves had six student-athletes honored as ITA Scholar Athletes.
Each team earned collective GPA's of 3.3, respectively, which earned them the elite status of ITA Team Academic All-American. To earn an ITA All-Academic Team award a program must earn a minimum cumulative team grade point average of 3.20 or higher (on a 4.00 scale).
The ITA also honors individual student-athletes who excel academically as ITA Scholar-Athletes. The Seawolves had two women - Fanny Charliquart and Gayatri Krishnan; and four men- Ivan Rummel, Francesco Arciuli, Roope Kailaheimo and Ryan Schmitz - earn this honor.
In order to earn ITA Scholar-Athlete status a student-athlete must be a varsity letter winner and have a grade point average of at least 3.50 (on a 4.00 scale) for the current academic year.
They also must have been enrolled at their present school for at least two semesters.
