Volleyball set for Bucknell Invitational this weekend

The Stony Brook University volleyball team will conclude tournament play this weekend as it heads to the Bucknell Invitational. The Seawolves will open against Bowling Green on Friday at 5 p.m. before taking on Coppin State (10 a.m.) and the host Bisons (12 p.m.) on Saturday.

Seawolves News & Notes
Stony Brook (3-6, 0-0 AE) won two of their three matches at the CCSU Invitational last weekend ... the Seawolves swept Bucknell and St. Peter's before falling to the host Blue Devils in four sets in the final match ... Senior Alicia Nelson (Apple Valley, Minn.) and freshman Laura Hathaway (Warsaw, N.Y.) were named to the All-Tournament team ... Nelson had 15 kills and hit .609 in the win over St. Peter's ... Hathaway had a career-high 23 digs in four sets against CCSU ... the Seawolves hit a season-high .255 against St. Peter's ... sophomore Evann Slaughter (Clinton, Md.) had a combined 12 block assists in the three matches at the CCSU Invitational ... Nelson averaged 5.0 points per set for the weekend and leads the America East in kills per set (4.11) and points per set (4.60).

Scouting Bucknell
This will be the Seawolves second match against Bucknell in as many as weeks after SBU swept the Bison last weekend at the CCSU Invitational. No player from either team reached double-digits in kills. Kat Tauscher and Kebah Edoho were both named to the All-tournament team last weekend. Tauscher totaled 117 assists (9.00/set) and four service aces, both team highs. Edoho was third on the squad in kills with 26 (2.00/set) and second in blocks with nine (0.69).

Scouting Bowling Green
The Falcons head to Lewisburg with a perfect 9-0 record after knocking off Michigan State, SIU-Edwardsville and Canisius last weekend to win the Best Western Falcon Plaza Invitational. Danielle Tonyan and Paige Penrod lead the Falcons with over 100 kills each.

Scouting Coppin State
Coppin State enters the weekend at 3-9 and are coming off a three-set loss to St. Francis (Pa.). Ariel Richard leads the Eagles with 121 kills and is averaging 2.95 kills per set. No other player on the Coppin State squad is averaging more than 2.0 kills per set.
