Juniors Nini Lagvilava (Tbilisi, Georgia) and Chloe Pike (Bristol, England) each won singles titles to highlight an outstanding weekend for the Stony Brook women's tennis team at the Eastern Championships hosted by Army. Lagvilava won Flight A while Pike won Flight D.
Lagvilava knocked off Sonia Bokhari from UMass, 6-1, 7-5 in the semifinals before beating Amy Simidian from Fordham, 6-0, 6-2 in the final. Pike rallied for a 4-6, 6-3, 10-4 win in the final over Taylor Washington of Pittsburgh.
Freshman Polina Movchan (Kiev, Ukraine) had an impressive weekend as well, advancing to the final in Flight C singles. Senior Prerana Appineni (Hyderabad, India.) made it to the semifinals in Flight B singles.
