Sophomore Evann Slaughter (Clinton, Md.), of the Stony Brook University volleyball team, has been named America East Player of the Week, the conference office announced on Monday. It is the second player of the week honor for Slaughter this season.
Slaughter helped the Seawolves to five-set victories over Fordham and UMBC last week. In the conference opener against the Retrievers she hit. 387 and had 15 kills including five each in the last two sets as SBU rallied back from a 2-1 deficit.
Against Fordham, Slaughter had a career-best 22 kills and had an attack percentage of .439. For the week, the middle blocker hit .417 and averaged 3.70 kills per set.
Winners of four straight, the Seawolves return home to take on Albany on Friday night at Pritchard Gymnasium. First serve is set for 7 p.m.
