Slaughter named AE Volleyball Player of the Week

Cambridge, Mass. - Sophomore Evann Slaugter (Clinton, Md.), of the Stony Brook University volleyball team, has been named America East Player of the Week, the conference office announced on Monday. Slaughter averaged 3.92 points per set over the weekend as she was named to the Holiday Inn Express All-Tournament team.

Slaughter averaged 3.58 kills per set in three matches and hit .435 for the weekend. A middle blocker, she had 16 kills on a .375 attack percentage in the 3-1 win over Iona on Saturday and then closed out the Holiday Inn Express Tournament with career-highs in kills (18) and block assists (six) against Rhode Island.

The 2010 America East Rookie of the Year is second in the America East in points (119.0) and third in hitting percentage (.333).

The Seawolves return to action this weekend, traveling to take part in the CCSU Invitational
