Stony Brook, N.Y. - The America East Conference has released its 2011-12 conference schedule, completing the Stony Brook men's basketball team's 29-game regular season slate. Stony Brook's schedule now includes 16 America East Conference games, 13 non-conference contests and 13 games that will be played on campus.
The previously released non-conference schedule's marquee game will be a Dec. 17 contest against the BIG EAST's Rutgers which will be played at Madison Square Garden as part of the MSG Holiday Festival. The slate also includes matchups with two Big Ten teams (Indiana Nov. 11 & Northwestern Nov. 25) and an ACC Squad (Boston College Dec. 11).
Stony Brook will open the home portion of its non-conference schedule Nov. 13 against Mount Ida. Among the other opponents will be the Northeast Conference's Sacred Heart (Nov. 15) and Fairleigh Dickinson (Dec. 7), the Ivy League's Columbia (Nov. 22) and Cornell (Dec. 28), the Ohio Valley Conference's Eastern Illinois (Dec. 3) and the MAAC's Rider (Dec. 30).
The 16-game conference schedule begins Jan. 2 with a home game against defending regular season champion Vermont. It will be followed by a Jan. 5 road game at Binghamton. The Seawolves then welcome Albany to Pritchard Gym Jan. 8 for a men's & women's doubleheader.
After a road game at UMBC (Jan. 11), the Seawolves will clash with Boston University on Jan. 14, the first meeting between the two teams since their epic America East Championship final back in March. Stony Brook will then host New Hampshire on Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Day Jan. 16 and will play at Maine Jan. 21.
The following three games will all be at home, starting Jan. 25 against Hartford, followed by a Jan. 27 tilt against Boston University and a Feb. 1 game vs. Binghamton.
The team will swing through a few states during the first weekend of February as it plays at Albany (Feb. 4) and New Hampshire (Feb. 6) in a span of three days. The Albany game will also be played as part of a men's & women's doubleheader.
The Seawolves will wrap up the regular season Feb. 21 at Hartford and Feb. 26 at home vs. Maine.
The 2012 America East Championship will once again be held at Hartford's Chase Family Arena March 1-4, and the final will be on the campus of the highest remaining seed March 10.
Season tickets for Stony Brook men's basketball are now on sale through the Stony Brook Athletics Ticket Office. The season ticket package includes a ticket to the Dec. 17 Holiday Festival game at Madison Square Garden. Individual game tickets will go on sale Oct. 1.
