Nini Lagvilava nationally ranked by ITA

Stony Brook, N.Y. - Junior Nini Lagvilava (Tbilisi, Georgia), of the Stony Brook University women's tennis team, became the program's first ever nationally ranked player when the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) released its preseason rankings on Tuesday. Lagvilava is ranked 108th, the highest of any America East player.

Lagvilava is also ranked sixth in the Northeast Region rankings, the highest ever ranking for a Stony Brook player. The ITA compiles its preseason rankings based on a players results in the fall season.

Lagvilava lost just one match in the fall season as she became the first player in Stony Brook history to advance to the quarterfinal round of the Northeast Regionals.

The Seawolves open their spring season on Feb. 4 at Dartmouth.
