Women's tennis falls to Georgetown, 6-1

Washington, D.C. - Freshman Polina Movchan (Kiev, Ukraine) won in straight sets at No. 2 singles but it wasn't enough as the Stony Brook women's tennis team fell to the Georgetown Hoyas, 6-1, on Thursday at McDonough Outdoor Tennis Complex. Stony Brook falls to 5-5 with the loss.

Movchan defeated Victoria Sekely, 6-3, 6-3 as she improved to 7-2 at the No. 2 spot this season.

The Hoyas opened the match by winning at No. 1 and No. 2 doubles to take a 1-0 lead. Movchan and junior Nini Lagvilava (Tbilisi, Georgia) lost a close 8-6 decision at No. 1.

Georgetown then won at the No. 4, 3 and 1 singles positions to earn the victory. Senior Prerana Appineni (Hyderabad, India) lost in three sets at the No. 5 spot.
