Baseball welcomes Binghamton for three-game weekend series

Stony Brook, N.Y. - Winners of 10 in a row and 20 of 22, the first-place Stony Brook baseball team takes on the Binghamton Bearcats in a three-game series at Joe Nathan Field. Originally scheduled to be played at Binghamton, the series was moved to Stony Brook due to field renovations on the Bearcats Field. Binghamton will be the designated home team for the series.

Junior Willie Carmona went 5-for-6 with four RBI as the Stony Brook University baseball team completed a three-game sweep of the UMBC Retrievers with a 17-1 victory on Sunday.

Seawolves News & Notes
Junior centerfielder Travis Jankowski was named to the Golden Spikes award 60-man watch list by USA Baseball on Tuesday ... the award is given annually to the top amateur player in the nation ... it is the second straight season that the Seawolves have had a player named to 60-man midseason watch list as former All-American Nick Tropeano was named last season ... Jankowski is tied for the national lead in triples and is eighth in stolen bases ... his .390 batting average leads the America East and is 31st in the country ... the Seawolves are second in the nation in fielding percentage (.981) and fourth in batting average ... Stony Brook's .773 winning percentage is eighth in the country.

Scouting Binghamton
The Bearcats are in second place in the America East after taking three of four from Hartford last weekend. Mike Augliera is third in the America East with a 2.35 ERA and leads the conference in strikeouts and opponent batting average. Binghamton has a .282 team batting average but has no one among the top 10 in the league in hitting.
