Stony Brook men's soccer head coach Ryan Anatol has announced the addition of incoming freshman Alejandro Fritz to the 2012 roster. Fritz is a 5-10 midfielder and comes to Stony Brook from Budapest, Hungary.
"We are excited to welcome Alejandro to our program," Anatol said. "Alejandro is a prototypical winger. He is quick, likes to dribble at defenders and serves a good ball. We expect him to have a successful career at Stony Brook."
Prior to joining Stony Brook, Fritz played for Rakosmenti KSK in the Hungarian 3rd Division for seniors. Before that, he was a member of the MTK Budapest youth system.
Fritz completes an incredibly talented recruiting class that includes transfers Mamadou Balde (Corona, N.Y.), Marius Krathe (Saltnes, Norway), Shane Wixted (Melbourne Beach, Fla.) and Ryan Price (Melbourne Beach, Fla.) and freshmen Myles Bent (Dix Hills, N.Y.), Martin Giordano (Weston, Fla.), Troy Manheimer (Boca Raton, Fla.), Christian Argueta (Brentwood, N.Y.), Jesse Inkles (Port Jefferson Station, N.Y.) and James Brostowski (Lindenhurst, N.Y.).
The newcomers will join 13 returning letterwinners and one redshirt freshman to form the 2012 squad that will challenge for a second consecutive America East Championship. Under Anatol, the Seawolves went 10-6-4 in 2011 and advanced to the NCAA Tournament for the third time in program history.
The Seawolves opened preseason training today and will work towards their regular season opener at Fairleigh Dickinson on Friday, Aug. 24 at 7 p.m.
