About the Game
Stony Brook looks to continue its strong run through America East Wednesday as it takes on SUNY rival Binghamton. The Seawolves, winners of six of their last eight games, are also trying to extend their Div. I program best start to 15 games and record a 2-0 league start for the second consecutive season. SB is 19-3 in its last 22 conference games, dating back to February 2011. This is the 55th all-time meeting between these two teams, and the Seawolves lead the series 29-25 and have won four straight. However, Binghamton's equalizer is playing at home at the Events Center, where the Bearcats are 8-1 against the Seawolves since opening the building in 2004.
Scouting Binghamton
The Bearcats are in their first season under head coach Tommy Dempsey, who joined the program after a successful run at Rider. Binghamton has lost nine straight games, but has traditionally been a tough out at home, where the Bearcats are 2-5 but easily could be 4-3 if not for a pair of single-possession losses. Binghamton has enjoyed amazing production out of freshman Jordan Reed, who is averaging 16.4 points and 9.9 rebounds a game, which are good for second and first in America East, respectively. He and fellow guard Jimmy Gray (11.6 PPG) account for 43% of Binghamton's offense this season.
Last Time Out
Behind a stout defense and 18 points from Jameel Warney, Stony Brook soundly defeated New Hampshire, 65-49, at a sold-out Pritchard Gymnasium. The suffocating Seawolves defense limited the Wildcats to 30.8% shooting and their second-lowest scoring output of the season. Meanwhile, Warney was dominant on both ends of the floor, going 7-for-8 from the field and blocking a career-high four shots. Tommy Brenton was instrumental with 12 rebounds and five assists, the ninth game he's dished five or more assists this season.
