TOLEDO GAME RECAP  |  FAU GAME RECAP

About the Game

  • Stony Brook concludes its appearance in the 2KSports Classic benefiting Wounded Warrior Project with the third of three games in three days Saturday vs. host Detroit.
  • Stony Brook and Detroit have never met on the basketball court, and this is the first time SB is playing a team from the Horizon League since facing Cleveland State on Dec. 4, 2001. SB is 1-5 all-time against the Horizon League.
  • Stony Brook beat Florida Atlantic yesterday, 67-61, behind a career-high 23 points and 19 rebounds from Jameel Warney. The 19 rebounds are second-most in the program’s Div. I history.
  • The #Seawolves to Toledo on Friday in a shootout, 103-99, despite a career-high 36 points from Anthony Jackson, which ties a program record for most single-game points in team Div. I history.
  • The #Seawolves are coming off their best season in their Div. I program history, rocking 25 wins, an America East regular season championship and an NIT victory.

Scouting Detroit

  • The Titans returned just one starter from last season’s team that went 20-13 overall and 12-4 in the Horizon League. Detroit has been to the postseason in each of the last two seasons (2013 - NIT, 2012 - NCAA).
  • Juwan Howard Jr. is the lone returning starter and so far has more than doubled his scoring average from last season, putting up 17.7 per game through six.
  • Four other Titans are averaging over eight points a game, including Carlton Brundidge, who had 22 vs. James Madison earlier this week.

If Stony Brook Wins...

  • The #Seawolves will be 5-2, matching the program’s best seven-game start in its Div. I history (2012-13, 2009-10).
  • Stony Brook will earn its 700th win all-time as a basketball program.
  • Steve Pikiell will pick up his 125th win at Stony Brook.
