About the Game
Stony Brook, the nation's leader in true road victories and winner of nine of its last 10 games overall, plays a road game for the 13th time in its last 18 games Saturday against Hartford. The Seawolves are 5-1 in their last six road games and 10-4 overall. This is the 27th all-time meeting between these two teams, and the series is dead even at 13-13. However, the Seawolves have dominated in the last few years, having taken nine straight games from the Hawks, including the last four matchups in West Hartford.
Scouting Hartford
The Hawks have enjoyed a roller coaster of a conference season this year. Hartford started out 3-0 but then suffered a loss to Stony Brook that sent the team into a three-game losing streak. Now the Hawks have recovered to pull out victories in three of their last four games. The results are in large part due to the play of Mark Nwakamma, who is averaging an America East best 18.3 points per conference game and is averaging 19.8 points and 8.8 rebounds over the last four games alone. The Hawks are still heavily reliant on the three-point shot, although Boston University has overtaken them for the conference lead in three-pointers made per game. Hartford averages 7.7 makes and 22.7 attempts from behind the arc per game. Evan Cooper is Hartford's best three-point shooter at 39.3%, but Wes Cole takes the most shots at 5.1 per game.
Last Time Out
Stony Brook held New Hampshire to 34% shooting, and Anthony Jackson hit a big three-pointer with 1:16 remaining in the game to lift the Seawolves to a 56-54 win over the Wildcats last Saturday. Jackson finished with 11 points, Dave Coley had a game-high 13 points and eight rebounds, and Jameel Warney added 11 points and two blocks. The Seawolves did a great job at the free throw line, making 15 of 18 attempts, including 12 of 14 in the second half.
