Orono, Maine - The Stony Brook softball team will head to Orono, Maine this weekend for a three-game series against conference foe Maine. The teams will play a single game Saturday at 3 p.m., before playing a doubleheader Sunday starting at 11 a.m.
America East Playoff Picture
Midway through the conference season, Stony Brook currently sits in third in the America East standings with a 5-4 record. Albany and Binghamton are tied for first at 8-1, while Hartford is fourth at 4-5. Boston University is 5-4, but is not eligible for postseason play due to its impending move to the Patriot League. The top four teams qualify for the America East playoffs.
Maine is currently on the outside looking in at 2-7, while UMBC is last at 1-11.
Stony Brook
After dropping two of three games against Albany last weekend, the Seawolves (23-18) will be looking to get back in the win column in the conference standings. As a team, Stony Brook ranks second in the America East in ERA at 3.01 and fourth in batting average at .261. The Seawolves also rank second in fielding percentage at .970 and fifth in stolen bases with 23.
Maine
The Black Bears enter with a 6-32 record and have lost three straight games. Maine's two conference wins came against UMBC in March, but since then the Black Bears have been swept by Albany and Binghamton. Jean Stevens leads the team with 11 home runs and 30 RBI, while hitting .269. In the circle, Maine features four pitchers with at least 47 innings pitched, led by Hannah Hill (2-12, 4.32 ERA) who has 62 strikeouts in 81 innings.
