Stony Brook, N.Y. - The America East Conference has released its 2013-14 conference schedule, completing the Stony Brook men's basketball team's 31-game regular season slate. Stony Brook's schedule now includes 16 America East Conference games, 15 non-conference contests and 14 home games that will be played at Pritchard Gymnasium.
The previously released non-conference schedule includes marquee games against Indiana (Nov. 17), La Salle (Dec. 7) and VCU (Jan. 3). The La Salle game will take place at Madison Square Garden as part of the MSG Holiday Festival. The Seawolves will also participate in the 2K Sports Classic benefiting the Wounded Warrior Project, taking on Toledo (Nov. 22), Florida Atlantic (Nov. 23) and host Detroit (Nov. 24).
Other non-conference games include matchups with Marist (Nov. 8) and Canisius (Nov. 26) of the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference, defending Colonial Athletic Association regular season champion Northeastern (Nov. 13), St. Francis Brooklyn (Dec. 1) and Fairleigh Dickinson (Dec. 4) of the Northeast Conference, the Ivy League's Cornell (Dec. 22) and Columbia (Jan. 8), Loyola Maryland (Dec. 19) of the Patriot League and Div. III member Haverford College (Nov. 10).
Stony Brook's conference schedule will start early this season as the Seawolves battle New Hampshire on the road Dec. 15. The slate then resumes Jan. 12 at Hartford before Stony Brook puts its 18-game home conference winning streak on the line Jan. 15 vs. Binghamton and Jan. 18 vs. UMass Lowell.
After a Jan. 20 game at UMBC, the Seawolves will host Vermont on Jan. 24 and Maine on Jan. 26. Stony Brook wraps up January with a date at defending America East tournament champion Albany on Jan. 29.
February opens with a home date against Hartford on Feb. 1, and after the Seawolves play at Binghamton on Feb. 4, they will host New Hampshire on Feb. 8.
The regular season wraps up with three of the last five on the road as the Seawolves play at UMass Lowell Feb. 15, host UMBC on Feb. 19, visit Maine on Feb. 23 and Vermont on Feb. 27 and then host Albany in the finale on March 2.
Stony Brook, led by ninth-year head coach Steve Pikiell, has thoroughly dominated the America East regular season schedule, capturing back-to-back regular season championships and three of the last four titles. The Seawolves are 28-4 in conference competition over the last two seasons. They return eight letterwinners, including four starters, from last season's team while also gaining the services of three redshirt freshmen, one sophomore transfer and two true freshmen.
There are limited Stony Brook men's basketball season tickets remaining. Fans can call 631-632-4513 to reserve their spot at Pritchard Gymnasium. Current season ticket holders will receive priority when selecting seats at the new Stony Brook Arena, Long Island's newest athletic and entertainment destination scheduled for a Fall 2014 opening.
