With a 1-2-1 record in conference, Albany sits directly above Stony Brook in the America East standings with four points. After winning its conference opener over Vermont, the Great Danes had dropped two in a row, before managing to tie conference leader UMBC in its last match. Albany heads into Friday’s contest with the best goals against average in the league (0.96). Afonso Pinheiro leads the team in points and is third in the America East with 11 on five goals and an assist. Leo Malgar is tied-for-seventh in conference with eight points on three goals and two assists. Tim Allen has been a rock in goal for the Great Danes, not only leading the conference with his 0.96 goals against average, but also ranking second in saves with 67 and save percentage (.807).

Stony Brook and Albany are familiar foes. Friday night will mark the 41st time the program’s have met with Albany leading the series 21-16-4. Stony Brook upended the Great Danes last year behind a 98th minute overtime goal from junior Martin Giordano (Weston, Fla.). Despite trailing the all-time series, the #Seawolves are unbeaten in their last seven matches vs. Albany, owning a 5-0-2 record over that time.

Sophomore midfielder Favio Sbarra (Caracas, Venezuela) has netted the #Seawolves last two goals and is tied with Giordano for second on the team with six points on two goals and two assists. Freshman Thibault Duval (Grace Hollogne, Belgium), who assisted on Sbarra’s last goal, leads the team with eight points on two goals and four assists. His four assists rank second in the America East.
