Stony Brook, N.Y. - The #Seawolves welcome the Villanova Wildcats to LaValle Stadium on Tuesday night at 7 p.m. The night will serve as a celebration of the Stony Brook international students, including the ten international players from seven different countries that hail on the Seawolves roster.
Scouting Villanova
After starting the season 0-3, the Wildcats have rattled off a 5-1-1 record over their last seven games to sit at 5-4-1. The team is organized in the back, recording four shutouts on the season and allowing just six goals in 10 games (.60 goals/game). They have not allowed more than one goal in any of their 10 games. Villanova enters Tuesday's game victors of their last two, defeating La Salle 3-0 and DePaul 4-0. Aaron Dennis leads the Wildcats with five goals and two assists, while Haydon Harr has three goals and an assist. Goalkeeper Will Steiner has started all 10 matches and ranks 11th in the nation with a .878 save percentage.
All-Time Series
The Seawolves and Wildcats met in 2012 and 2013, the only two meetings in history, with the Wildcats emerging with wins in both contests. Villanova scored a 76th minute goal from a corner kick last season to get the win.
Balanced Production
When sophomore Favio Sbarra (Caracas, Venezuela) scored his game-winning goal against New Hampshire, his first goal of the season, he became the eighth player to score a goal for Stony Brook this season. Their 11 goals have been distributed between eight different players. Thirteen players have recorded at least an assist.
Conference Opener Success
Saturday's victory over New Hampshire was the fourth consecutive year the Seawolves have secured at least a point in their conference opener. They are 3-0-1 during that time.
