Vogel three-peats as America East Setter of the Week

Oct. 6, 2014

Cambridge, Mass. – Junior Nicole Vogel of the Stony Brook volleyball team has picked up her third straight America East Setter of the Week honor, league officials announced Monday afternoon. She posted double-doubles in Stony Brook's wins over Manhattan and UMBC last week.

Vogel was first among America East setters in digs per set (3.25) and was second in assists per set (10.38). After recording a match high of 46 assists and 10 digs vs. Manhattan Wednesday, she led the contest with 37 helpers and 16 digs as the Seawolves took down America East preseason favorite UMBC in four frames Friday night.

The Costa Mesa, Calif., product has played a pivotal role in Stony Brook’s six-match winning streak, posting five double-doubles over that span. She has reached double figures in digs and assists in each of the last three matches and shares the team lead in double-doubles (6) with classmate Melissa Rigo.

Vogel and the Seawolves will look to continue their surge when they play at Sacred Heart Tuesday at 7 p.m. They return to conference action this weekend with matches at Albany (Friday) and Binghamton (Saturday).
