2015 Schedule

Stony Brook, N.Y. -
The Stony Brook softball team has won at least 34 games in each of the last three seasons. Accomplishing the feat for the fourth consecutive season won’t be easy, as the #Seawolves face eight opponents ranked in the Top 100 in last season’s final RPI and six teams who competed in the NCAA Tournament last spring.

"Once again, we have put together an exciting and challenging non-conference schedule to prepare us for the America East and our goal of winning a conference championship," head coach Megan Bryant said. "We will face excellent pitching, teams with speed and teams with power, which will give us the opportunity to improve our game in every aspect."

Stony Brook opens the season with two tournaments in the sunshine state and a trip to Harrisonburg, Va. at the James Madison Tournament. The Seawolves first game action will come at the Florida Gulf Coast University Tournament from Feb. 20-22. Stony Brook opens with Oakland before closing round robin play against Purdue and Florida Gulf Coast, ranked no. 73 and no. 90 in the RPI, respectively.

Next, the Seawolves will compete in the North Florida Invitational from Feb. 27 - Mar. 1. Featured games in the tournament include showdowns with Kansas (no. 37 RPI) and North Florida (no. 86 RPI).

After its stay in Florida, Stony Brook will compete in the JMU Dukes Invitational from Mar. 6-8 where they are scheduled to face Maryland, James Madison and Rhode Island. James Madison is the highest ranked opponent from last season on Stony Brook’s schedule, ranked no. 24 in the RPI and no. 25 in the USA Today/NFCA Coaches’ Poll after posting a 45-15 record in 2014.

The Seawolves conclude their tournament season when they host Eastern Michigan and Holy Cross at the Stony Brook Invitational from Mar. 13-15.

Other noteworthy opponents include Rutgers (no. 87 RPI), who the Seawolves host in a doubleheader on Apr. 1, and Hofstra (no. 38 RPI), who the Seawolves play in Hempstead on Apr. 16. The top-ranked America East team Stony Brook will face is no. 88 Albany, who squeaked past Stony Brook in last season’s America East Championship. The Seawolves will get a crack at revenge in a three-game series at Albany from Mar. 28-29.

The 2015 Seawolves return two-time America East Pitcher of the Year Allison Cukrov (Irvine, Calif.) as well as America East second-team selections Bria Green (Wheatley Heights, N.Y.) and Shayla Giosia (Runnemede, N.J.).
