Men's and women's soccer earn NSCAA Team Awards

Stony Brook, N.Y. - Stony Brook was one of five America East schools to have both the men's and women's soccer teams receive National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) Team Academic Awards, the NSCAA announced Monday. The award recognizes teams with combined grade point averages of 3.0 or higher.

The women's team posted a grade point average of 3.14. Senior costal environmental major Shannon Grogan (Eastampton, N.J.), an America East All-Academic selection led the way with a 3.77 GPA.

The men posted a combined 3.02 grade point average. Juniors Martin Giordano (Weston, Fla.) and Alejandro Fritz (Budapest, Hungary) were America East All-Academic selections with Giordano sporting a team-best 3.82 cumulative GPA while studying mechanical engineering.
