About the Game
- The #Seawolves, seven days since their last game, look to rebound from a loss with a road game at UMass Lowell.
- This is the 10th all-time meeting between the two teams and second as Div. I foes. Stony Brook took the first matchup this season, 70-65, at Pritchard Gymnasium.
- This is a matchup of the top two three-point field goal defenses in America East (UML - 32%, SB - 32.5%), although opponents have taken over 100 more three-point attempts against Stony Brook than UMass Lowell.
- A win PLUS losses by Albany and Hartford will ensure Stony Brook receives no lower than the No. 2 seed at the America East Championship.
Scouting UMass Lowell
- After starting the season 1-11, the River Hawks have been one of the more steady teams in America East, going 7-5 since. They are just two wins shy of guaranteeing a non-losing season in conference play.
- Akeem Williams has been playing at a high level; he leads the conference in scoring both overall (15.3 PPG) and in conference games only (17.0 PPG). Ironically, Stony Brook held him to only three points due to foul trouble.
- The River Hawks have been immensely better with Antonio Bivins in the lineup. He is averaging 14.2 points and 5.4 rebounds since returning from injury.
- UMass Lowell has struggled with shooting all season, averaging only 38.4% from the field. The team has failed to shoot 40% in a game 12 times this season, including a season-low 12.2% vs. New Hampshire on Jan. 26.
If Stony Brook Wins...
- The #Seawolves will reach the 10-win mark in conference play for the third consecutive season and fourth time in five years.
- Head Coach Steve Pikiell will tie Joe Castigle (1984-91) for most coaching wins in program history (138).
- Stony Brook will ensure that it finishes the regular season with a winning record in true road games.
