Preview: Stony Brook, which is in the midst of a six-game homestand, will host regional rival LIU Brooklyn Wednesday at University Field.  Last season, Stony Brook edged LIU Brooklyn, 8-7, in nine innings.  Junior Bria Green went 3-for-5 and junior Shayla Giosia was 2-for-4 with two runs and two RBIs.  Green’s run put the Seawolves ahead in the ninth.  In the bottom of the inning, the Blackbirds had a runner on third with one out, but Jane Sallen retired the next two batters as Stony Brook held on for the win.

Opponent: The Blackbirds opened the 2014 season by playing in six tournaments, including five in Florida, most recently competing at the USF Spring Break Tournament, where they went 1-4.  Lauren Morizi leads the team in most of the offensive categories, including runs (13), hits (28), doubles (7) and walks (13) and average (.311).  Kayla Gloady is also batting over .300 (.304) and leads the team with 11 RBIs.  Shelley Procter is 8-11 with a 3.18 ERA in 108 innings.  Cassie Vondrak is 1-9 with a 4.05 ERA.

Series: Since 2000, Stony Brook is 2-4 against LIU Brooklyn, including last year's victory.

Up Next: The Seawolves will open a three-game series and America East play against Albany.  The Seawolves defeated the Great Danes twice last season to capture their second America East Championship.
