Playing its third match in four days, the Stony Brook women's tennis team blanked Manhattan, 7-0, Tuesday at University Courts.
The Seawolves (8-3) received a strong doubles performance from the entire squad, including one from freshman Nadia Smergut (New York, N.Y.) and sophomore Becky Shtilkind (Brooklyn, N.Y.). The duo beat Alyssa Rosello and Catherine Clark, 8-1, at No. 3.
Stony Brook won five of the six singles matches in straight sets. Smergut and sophomore Louise Badoche (Paris, France) each won their matches, 6-0, 6-0.
Sophomore Jackie AltanSarnai (Hinsdale, Ill.), moved to 3-0 at No. 1 singles, with a 6-1, 6-0 victory over Brianna Turano.
Freshman Alexa Cohn (Binghamton, N.Y.) picked up her first victory of the season, winning 10-6 in the third set at No. 6 singles.
Stony Brook will open America East play at Albany on Friday, April 11 at 11:30 a.m.
