Stony Brook, N.Y. - Junior
Martin Giordano (Weston, Fla.) and freshman
Thibault Duval (Grace Hollogne, Belgium) swept the America East weekly awards after helping the #Seawolves score six goals in their two games. Giordano, the Player of the Week, earns his third America East weekly award of his career and his second Player of the Week. Duval's Rookie of the Week honor is the first of his career.
Duval's performance in Tuesday's 4-2 win over Sacred Heart was one of the best performances by a Seawolf in recent memory. The freshman entered the contest with just one collegiate point, but racked up six on two goals and two assists, the most by a Stony Brook player since
Chris Megaloudis scored four goals against Philadelphia University in 2005.
Giordano was just as impressive throughout the week, notching goals in the win over Sacred Heart and overtime loss to Northeastern. His breakaway goal against the Pioneers on Tuesday night clinched the Stony Brook victory. He also scored a scintillating volley to stake the Seawolves to a 1-0 lead over Northeastern. He leads Stony Brook this season with three goals.
Stony Brook opens conference play next Saturday against New Hampshire at LaValle Stadium at 4 p.m.
