Cambridge, Mass. - For the fourth straight week, Stony Brook junior Jameel Warney (Plainfield, N.J.) has been named America East Player of the Week, the conference announced Monday.
Warney averaged 25.5 points and 11.5 rebounds in games against Columbia and Vermont.
Warney, who shot 12-for-16 from the field, posted 25 points and 13 rebounds to help Stony Brook complete a season sweep of Columbia.
The reigning America East Player of the Year followed up his Columbia performance with 26 points and 10 rebounds against the Catamounts.
Warney shot 10-for-14 from the field and 6-for-6 from the free throw line in posting his nation-leading 14th double-double in 17 games.
Warney is the first player since Vermont's Matt Johnson (1990-91) to win four straight Player of the Week honors. His six awards this year are tied for the second-most in a season, joining Vermont's Taylor Coppenrath (2004-05) and Speedy Claxton (1999-2000).
Hartford's Kenny Adeleke (2005-06) has the record of eight weekly honors.
Stony Brook will host UMBC on Wednesday, January 14 at 7 p.m.
