Lowell, Mass. - The Stony Brook men’s soccer team (4-5-2, 1-1-0 AE) looks to get back to winning ways on Wednesday, Oct. 14, when it travels to UMass Lowell (6-5-0, 1-1-0) for a 7 p.m. kick.

Scouting UMass Lowell

The River Hawks are 6-5-0 overall and tied with the Seawolves in conference play with a 1-1-0 record. They are led by Wuilito Fernandes and his four goals and three assists. Goalkeeper Austin Kroll leads the conference with five clean sheets. UMass Lowell enters Wednesday night fresh off a 1-0 victory over Binghamton in their last match. Fernandes scored the winning goal in the 79th minute. The River Hawks defeated the Seawolves 2-1 last season at LaValle Stadium.

Emerging Offense

The Seawolves scored eight goals in their first eight games, but have scored six over their last three. They are averaging 2.0 goals per game in conference play. Four different players have scored goals in those two matches.

Erdei On the Mark

Sophomore Vince Erdei (Budapest, Hungary) continues to impress in his first season as a forward. He has scored five goals in his last six matches and is tied for the team lead in goals (5) and points (13) with senior Martin Giordano (Weston, Fla.). Erdei played a role in both Stony Brook goals in its 3-2 loss at New Hampshire, assisting on the first goal and adding a goal of his own late in the second half. He is tied-for-fourth in the conference in goals and points.

Fritz Continues to Assist

Senior midfielder Alejandro Fritz (Budapest, Hungary) sits in a tie atop the conference assist ranks with five. He is only one assist shy of his career-high, which he set as a freshman in 2012. Saturday’s assist moved him to tied-for-4th on the school’s all-time career assist list.
