Vermont is 6-2 over its last eight games, including Wednesday’s 3-0 drubbing over defending America East champs, UMBC. They are led by Brian Wright, the conference leader in points with 19 on seven goals and five assists. He scored a goal and added two assists vs. the Retrievers and all seven of his goals have come over his last nine matches. Stefan Lamanna has three goals in his last five games and is second on the team in scoring with four goals and three assists. As a team, the Catamounts lead the league in total points and are second in goals per game (1.69 per game.) The Seawolves are 6-8-0 all-time vs. the Catamounts. Vermont won last year’s meeting in Burlington, 2-0.
Erdei On the Mark
Sophomore Vince Erdei (Budapest, Hungary) continues to impress in his first season as a forward. He has scored five goals in his last seven matches and is tied for the team lead in goals (5) and points (13) with senior Martin Giordano (Weston, Fla.).
Fritz Continues to Assist
Senior midfielder Alejandro Fritz (Budapest, Hungary) regained the conference lead in assists with his fifth of the season in last Saturday’s win over Albany. He is only one assist shy of his career-high, which he set as a freshman in 2012. Saturday’s assist moved him to tied-for-4th on the school’s all-time career assist list.
Getting Defensive
The Seawolves opened the 2015 season with consecutive shutouts vs. Central Connecticut State and Sacred Heart, but have not recorded a clean sheet since then. When Stony Brook allows one goal or less, they are 4-0-2. They are 0-5 when allowing two goals or more.
