2016 SCHEDULE
Stony Brook, N.Y. - The Stony Brook men's lacrosse team will play at least nine home games for a third straight season as head coach Jim Nagle announced the Seawolves' 2016 schedule Tuesday.
The Seawolves, whose seven wins at Kenneth P. LaValle Stadium last season were the most since winning eight in 2010, will play three straight games and five of the first six at home to start the season.
Stony Brook will play schools from seven different conferences, including a pair of contests against teams from the Ivy League and CAA.
Stony Brook begins its 34th season of competition against Sacred Heart on February 16. The Seawolves will host St. John's five days later and faces Brown, which reached the NCAA Tournament, for the first time in school history on February 27.
The road schedule kicks off against Fairfield on March 5.
Stony Brook will host Rutgers on March 11 before it takes on Hofstra (Mar. 15) in the rivalry's first matchup since 2009. The last three contests against the Pride have resulted in one-goal affairs.
The Seawolves will be on the road for three straight games, including the America East Conference opener at Albany on March 19.
After traveling to face UMBC on March 26, the Seawolves will take on Lehigh in a mid-week contest in Pennsylvania on March 29.
Stony Brook is back on Long Island to face Vermont on April 3. The Seawolves will head to New Jersey to face Princeton on April 9 before hosting Marist on April 12.
The regular season concludes with conference games against UMass Lowell (Apr. 16), Binghamton (Apr. 23) and Hartford (Apr. 30).
The America East's regular season champion will host the four-team America East Championship on May 5. The Championship game on May 7 will be televised live on the ESPN family of networks.
