Stony Brook falls to UMBC in four sets

Baltimore, Md. - The Stony Brook volleyball team was defeated in four sets (22-25, 12-25, 25-16, 19-25) by UMBC Sunday at RAC Arena. In the loss, the Seawolves fall to 10-15 and 4-3 in America East, while the Retrievers improve to 10-11 and 4-3 in conference play.

Highlights
- The Seawolves held UMBC to a -.194 hitting percentage in the third set to force a fourth frame after falling behind 2-0 in the match.
- Senior Stephanie McFadden (San Juan Capistrano, Calif.) had 12 kills to lead all players.
- Senior Lo Hathaway (Warsaw, N.Y.) tallied 16 digs.
- Senior Kathy Fletcher (West Chicago, Ill.) was in on four of the Seawolves’ seven blocks.

Notes
- The Seawolves and Retrievers split the season series. Stony Brook swept UMBC at Pritchard Gymnasium Sept. 25.
- The two teams combined for 21 blocks in the match – 14 for UMBC, seven for Stony Brook.
- Despite the loss, the Seawolves are 7-3 in their last 10 matches.
