Seawolves Host River Hawks in Friday Night Clash
The Stony Brook volleyball team, 7-3 in its last 10 matches, hosts UMass Lowell Friday night at Pritchard Gymnasium in America East play.

Last Time Out
Stony Brook went 2-1 last week with sweeps of Sacred Heart and Delaware State and a four-set loss at UMBC. In Friday’s win over Delaware State, the Seawolves hit a program-record .558 in a Senior Night victory.

Scouting the River Hawks
UMass Lowell is 4-19 and 1-5 in America East with wins over Hartford, Bryant, Mississippi Valley State and Quinnipiac. The River Hawks have lost four straight, most recently a five-set home defeat to Quinnipiac in the second meeting of the year between the teams Sunday.

Haley Shimon leads the River Hawks with 2.38 kills/set in 2015 while Lauren Bennett has posted a team-best .292 hitting percentage. Lindsey Visvardis leads the team with 3.95 digs/set.

The Last Time We Met
Stony Brook moved to 2-0 in America East play with a sweep of UMass Lowell in Lowell Sunday, Oct. 4. Kathy Fletcher had 12 kills and 11 digs for the Seawolves while Nicole Vogel tallied 33 assists and 16 digs.

Ace of Base
Senior Stephanie McFadden ranks sixth nationally with 0.51 aces/set. As a team, the Seawolves are 29th with 1.60 aces/set.

Sweeps Month
The Seawolves are 7-3 in their last 10 matches with all seven victories - Fordham, UMBC, UMass Lowell, Binghamton, Hartford, Sacred Heart and Delaware State - coming in three sets.

Talking ‘Bout Chi-Town
Senior Kathy Fletcher surpassed the 1,000-kill mark for her collegiate career in Friday’s win over Delaware State. Of those first 1,000, 258 came while Fletcher was a freshman at Division II Ashland University in 2011. Fletcher leads America East this season with 3.49 kills/set.

The Freshmen
Freshman Morgan Kath is second in America East in assists/set with 9.13. McKyla Brooks has recorded a .283 hitting percentage so far this year, good for fourth in America East. Both marks lead conference freshmen.

Boston Calling
The Seawolves have garnered an America East weekly award eight times in the season’s first nine weeks. Morgan Kath was named Setter of the Week Aug. 31 and Sept. 28 and Rookie of the Week Sept. 21, while McKyla Brooks earned Rookie of the Week honors Sept. 8 and Sept. 28, Nicole Vogel was tabbed as Setter of the Week Oct. 5 and Oct. 26 and Kathy Fletcher was honored as Player of the Week Oct. 12.

Big Dig
Senior Lo Hathaway broke the Seawolves’ program record for digs Sept. 5 vs. Holy Cross, passing Jessica Serrano with the 1,531st of her Stony Brook career.

New York State of Mind
The Seawolves have defeated eight New York State opponents since Coach Pawlikowski took over in 2013 (Albany, Binghamton, Buffalo, Columbia, Fordham, Manhattan, St. Francis Brooklyn, Syracuse). The Seawolves added Columbia to the list Sept. 18.

Decorations for Your Mantel
Three Seawolves earned all-tournament honors during nonconference play. Kathy Fletcher was named to the team at the Penn State Classic, Nicole Vogel at the Fairfield Invite and Stephanie McFadden at the Seawolves Invite.

The Seawolves hit the road for the final time in the regular season with matches at Albany and Binghamton, Friday, Oct. 6 and Saturday, Oct. 7.
